Subs not used: Murphy Bennett, Dana Amaral. Warrington Town’s miserable run of form continued with a 2-0 defeat away at Leamington. There was a familiar feel to the Yellows falling behind four minutes before the break, when home skipper Jack Edwards steered in Will Shorrock’s cross after what had been a fairly even first half. With just one win in their last 17 outings, the Yellows never looked like arresting that with a toothless second half display, during which Dan Turner swivelled and shot home a second on 72 minutes. Paul Carden made just one change to the side that lost to Scunthorpe at the weekend, Mikey O’Neill coming in to start in place of Bohan Dixon, who dropped to the bench. The line-up included three teenagers, as the Yellows continued without experienced quartet Peter Clarke, Josh Amis, Evan Gumbs and Andy White through injury. There was very little in the game in the first half, Joe Rodwell-Grant showing some nice touches and almost getting on the end of an Elliot Morris pullback. Leamington forced a number of corners without really creating anything, until on 41 minutes, the Yellows only half cleared a set piece and Shorrock’s curled in a dangerous cross that Edwards steered back across Dan Atherton. There was even less in the second half, with Leamington comfortable in their lead and the Yellows offering little to threaten, Rodwell-Grant shooting well over the bar with Matty McDonald well-placed about the closest the visitors went. Turner, on loan from Chester, made sure of the points with a tidy turn and finish after gathering Rob Evans’ flicked-on long throw. | ||||||
